Antique 1907 Charles Horner Arts and Crafts sterling silver brooch with large citrine colored faceted glass stone, Chester, England

$74.26

ANTIQUE CHARLES HORNER ARTS AND CRAFTS BROOCH (161141)

DESCRIPTION
This is a small and exquisite sterling silver brooch / pin by Charles Horner.
This is an Arts and Crafts style brooch as evidenced by the unusual prong setting that is designed to be a feature of the brooch along with the vibrantly colored faceted glass stone - a strong orange / amber color.
Charles Horner specialised in making beautifully crafted pieces that used less expensive elements such as glass instead of gemstones.
The stone is deep and oval shaped.
The brooch has a C-clasp with the prong extending well past the side of the brooch - typical of its time. This enabled it to be used on thicker fabrics.
At the back, the brooch is stamped:
"CH" for Charles Horner
Lion passant for British sterling silver
Town symbol for Chester, England
The date letter "g" for 1907.
The brooch weighs 6 grams.

MEASUREMENTS
The brooch is seven-eighths of an inch / a touch over 20 mm across (excluding the pin) and five-eighths of an inch / 15 mm from top to bottom.

AGE
The brooch is dated 1907.

CONDITION
The brooch is in very good vintage condition with no issues. The glass is undamaged.

Additional

Please don't ask for a discount. I probably won't respond to your request.

All of the goods I sell are vintage and most will have had prior owners. For this reason, they are likely to show some signs of age or wear. This is normal and I will only mention specific issues that I think you should know before deciding to purchase.
