Antique 1800s brass inkwell in Baroque style, highly elaborate with ink container with lid and quill resting section, beautiful cast brass

This is a beautiful antique brass inkwell in the Baroque style.
The item is made from cast brass in a lovely gold color with dark gold contrasts.
There is an ink container with a hinged lid that has a top knob and a removable insert for holding the ink. It is made of brass and still coated in old ink stains. The lid is very decorative with two faces and other embellishments.
There is a section for holding the quills. This section is extremely decorative with a beautiful face, a couple of dragons, scrolls, leaves, flowers, and lots of other flourishes.
The inkwell has two handles on the sides that look like gargoyle faces.
The inkwell sits on 4 small legs.
I can find no maker's marks, but it would be European in origin, possibly French.
It would make a great desk accessory, but could be used as a display item anywhere in the house and could even decorate a dining table. It could hold things like cocktail picks.
It has a beautiful patina that I have left untouched.

The item is 8.5 inches / 21.5 cm across and 4.5 inches / 11.5 cm deep.
It weighs 563 grams.

The item dates from the 1800s.

The item is solid and sound. The lid has a wobble when moved up and down, but it sits quietly when down.

Returns and exchange details

If a buyer wants to seek a refund, the buyer must get in touch with me within 14 days of receiving the item.
I will refund if you change your mind about the item - the cost of the item only, not the postage costs. The item must be returned to me in the same condition it was sent.
If an item is damaged in transit to such an extent that it can't be used, I will refund the cost of the item and the postage cost paid by the buyer. If the item is slightly damaged, but is still usable or repairable, I will discount the price. I will require proof of damage - an emailed photo will usually suffice.
If an item is lost in transit, I will refund the cost of the item and the postage cost.
If an item with a tracking number tracks as having been delivered and you didn't receive it, you must take this up with the carrier. The carrier won't allow me to do this on your behalf.
I will refund if the item is not as described. I may ask the buyer to return the item to me. In that case, I will pay for the cost of postage both ways as well as the cost of the item. If the buyer would like to keep the item at a discounted price, I will negotiate a price with the buyer.

Please don't ask for a discount. I probably won't respond to your request.

All of the goods I sell are vintage and most will have had prior owners. For this reason, they are likely to show some signs of age or wear. This is normal and I will only mention specific issues that I think you should know before deciding to purchase.
